They say that you still live in the stone age if up to now, you still don’t own a mobile phone. Almost everybody carries a mobile phone with them and these gadgets are getting sophisticated everyday as it is not just use for sending SMS and calling because it also offers a lot of additional features like allowing its user to surf the net, send emails, play online games, use different mobile applications, take pictures and more.

Another great feature that most mobile phones are equipped with now is its GPS capability. GPS can show a person’s real time location and because of this added functionality on cell phones, many developers have made applications that will utilize this GPS capability.

Some of these location-based services apps include FourSquare, Gowalla, Yelp, Facebook places and more. What this application does is it tracks the current location of the mobile phone user and it allows the user to search for nearby establishments and “checked-in” and all of the user's contacts on the same network are made aware of his/her location. Mobile phone users have used these applications as a great way to locate services like shops, restaurants, salons and the like and interact with their friends like organize a meet up after seeing friends who are in the same location. This provided an added convenience for mobile phone users but these location-based services not only benefits users, but it can help businesses as well.

Most companies now have established their own website or Facebook page to showcase and promote their products their services. These companies have been employing strategies and tools that will improve their site’s SEO (Search Engine Optimization) so they can get better positioning in the different search engines when consumers try to search for something. Companies employ these different SEO strategies to get notice and catch the attention of consumers that will eventually draw revenue for the business and these location based-applications can help in achieving that.

So how can these location-based applications help a business?

Foursquare is one of the first location-based applications that have been developed and is the most popular because it has the most number of users. In FourSquare, users “checks-in” to a location and the user’s real-time location will get published and will be seen by the users’ contacts in the different social networking sites. Also, users who “checks-in” the most to an establishment will get a reward and will earn the badge of being the mayor of the location and these mayors should be treated with special attention by business owners as they are the ones who has the most influence to promote your business. Users in these location-based networks can share feedbacks and tips that other user in the network can view and rely on when searching for any products and services.

These different activities in the location-based networks are an instant boost to the company’s marketing strategy then. Once any of the users of location-based service post his or her location by “checking in”, it gets shared to all the contacts, which is an instant promotion of the business. It therefore produces real time results as it can drive traffic to the company’s website and can influence the customer to go to the physical location of the establishment.

These location-based applications is also linked to various social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, so all “check-ins” get published in these sites as well. This can improve a site’s SEO as it helps in getting the website of the company gets index by Google faster as links shared in these social networking sites is also being considered by Google in their algorithm when determining a site’s ranking. So the more mentions your site have, the faster it will get index and the better will be your site’s ranking.

Location-based services available for mobile phone users have proven to be an effective way to help improve a company’s SEO and marketing strategies. Since more and more people reply on their mobile phones for their day-to-day activities, businesses must really find ways to maximize the benefits that these location-based applications can do to their business to promote their products and services and eventually bring revenue for their company.

My Blogging Life and Web Hosting

I started my first blog back in 2004 when I was preparing for our wedding. That blog became my journal as I document our wedding preparations. I did not know that I will be hooked into blogging but as time passes by I started to create blogs and register domain names for each of those blogs. I have created a separated blogs about my shopping wish list, another blog to document the life of my dear princess Bela and another blog to document my pregnancy for our second child.

It is nice to create blogs as I was able to maintain an online journal of our life. Someday, I can go back to these stories and reminisce all those good and bad days that my family and I have went through. These blogs then contains years and years of our life stories which I wish to keep so I have these stories to pass on to my children, my grand children and even to my great grand children.

My problem now is I am only using a free hosting and so I wish to look for a reliable web host where I can transfer all my blogs so they will just be in one server for easy management of all my blogs. So when looking for a web host, what features should you look for?

Here are my requirements:

It should offer cheap web hosting services so it will still be affordable for an ordinary blogger like me who just wants to document our life stories.
It should allow hosting of multiple domains.
It should be backed by reliable Operating system running in top of line servers.
Cpanel control panel is desirable as it offers additional features that will make my blogging life easy like ftp, webmail, wordpress, and more.
And lastly, it provides a fast sign up and payment process.

So my search is on and hopefully I will be able to find a good web host that will meet all my requirements.

Twitter Summer Outing 2012

Last weekend, I celebrated mother's day with the most fab mommies I know, my Twitter buddies:

We spent our weekend in La Triel Resort, one of the private resorts in Pansol, Laguna together with our families. We arrived Saturday morning and the kids immediately jumped into the pool as soon as we reached the resort.

This summer outing was organized by our group's organizer, Jacqui and everything was really well planned from the food assignments per family, the room assignments and even the activities lined up for the day.

It was a weekend full of fun because we were able to spend some quality time with our families and when the kids are all pass asleep by night time, the mommies had fun with the videoke with chika on the side while the daddies enjoyed their beer while playing porker.

By Sunday morning, it was great to wake up and celebrate Mother's Day with all these fabulous mommies around me. It was indeed a very fun weekend and hope we can do this again soon and this time, with all the Twitter buddies present.

Hubby is asking me to look for rustic outdoor furniture that he plans to purchase for his soon-to-be renovation project of our house in the suburbs but I have to make this post first. I just like to share about one accessory that I will love to wear all the time:

My Project PEARLS badge. This badge is given to active PEARLS volunteer. I learned about Project PEARLS from my good friend Peachy. PEARLS is the group that is helping the families in Ulingan.

My first time in Ulingan was last December 24 when we attended their Breakfast with Santa Project. We were not able to go back since then because our son has Gymboree class every Saturday morning. We were only able to come back during the graduation of the students from the PEARLS Day Care Center last March.

By April, Cobi's Gymboree class is already finish so my husband and I were able to go back to Ulingan almost every Saturday that we are free. I love going to Ulingan because it is our way of paying forward all the blessings that we have been receiving. It is also hard not to miss the kids as they are all very sweet and loving.

I am thankful that I have found a new family in Project Pearls and in Ulingan and I pray that God will continue to give us more strength and energy, that despite of our busy schedule we will always be able to find ways to spend our Saturday mornings with the kids in Ulingan.

I was looking at the mirror and I realized that I have not been taking good care of my skin. I have blackheads and pimples all over my face and I know that it is time that I go visit a dermatologist.

Luckily, I saw this deal from Ensogo, which entitles me to 6 sessions of 30 minute facial plus 15 minute of diamond peel from Zen Institute. One of their branches is very close to us, which is located in Sofitel so I think this is a best deal for me.

A colleague will be going to Italy this coming May and she gave me a heads up a few months ago to start saving as she can buy a bag for me while she is there as she knows how much I love bags and how big I will be saving if I buy it straight from Italy.

She suggested that since she will be going to Italy, I might as well get something made in Italy for bigger savings and she recommends Prada. If only I have the money, I will ask her to get me any one of this:

But my daughter’s 7th birthday party is coming and and a big part of my savings is for this party so I have no extra left for a purse. Since music is one of her love, we will be having a music inspired theme for her birthday. I am busy coordinating the details with my party planner and while I am into this, my husband is checking Fender Custom Shop Guitars, as he wants to buy a new guitar that he can use for their performance.

We have attended several music-inspired party and it was really fun. Hopefully I will be able to plan for a really fun and memorable party that my daughter will really love and I have less than 7 months to do that.

On Skin Care

I am thankful since April has been a very busy month for me and this means that we are covered financially for this month. The problem though is I have been sleeping late for the past weeks and this resulted to acne breakouts.

I have no choice as I can only work at night after putting my kids to sleep and with still my long list of backlogs, I am pretty sure that this pattern will still continue.

This made me realize that it is time to give attention to my skincare and I will definitely try seaclear skin care products as recommended by a friend. At least even if I continue having sleeping patterns like this, I will have some way to protect my skin from aging and pimples.

Hope this will work for me as I don’t want to look haggard and I would still like to look pretty and presentable even if I am working hard to provide for the needs of my family.

Music Inspired Theme for Bela's 7th Birthday Party

Last Saturday, we attended the Rock star party of the daughter of my good friend Jody.

Bela will be turning 7 years old too this coming November and up to now, we still haven’t decided on the theme of the party. But it will definitely be music inspired because singing is one of the things that Bela loves, aside from her animal toys. LOL.

She also loves to play with different musical instruments. She has a drum set, a violin, a guitar and an electric organ though she really can’t play that well yet. That is why for summer, my husband and I are thinking of enrolling her to any music class in Yamaha.

My husband likes the piano lesson as she is hoping that Bela will be able to learn a piece fast so she can play and perform on her 7th birthday. We are even checking out music store for prices of piano set and Piano Stools as hubby really dreamed of having one in the house so it will encourage the kids to really love music.

Bela’s birthday is still 7 months away and hopefully I will be able to come up with a particular music inspired theme for her 7th birthday party.

The Case of the Lost Bag

Last Saturday, we attended the beautiful party of Margaux at Blue Leaf in Mckinley Hill. As what we always do, we always leave our things on our assigned table as the moms and dads attend to their kids during the games, during eating time, as we do our part in being stage parents during the fashion show and more.

When the party ended and it is time for us to go home, we were surprised when a friend told us that her bag is missing. We looked everywhere, under the adult table, in the kids’ area, etc. I thought that it was a joke when I learned about it but minutes passed and still no bag, and so that is when I realized that it is true.

The bag contains wallets, makeup, jewelries and even rechargeable batteries and it is gone. Thankfully my friend was able to save her iPhone as she was using it to take pictures of her kids and her iPad as her husband was using it during the party.

We all learned our lesson after the event. This is a very bitter and painful way to learn that lesson. But we are all thankful that it is just a material thing that was lost and nobody got hurt. At least we know better next time.

7 Pounds Down

Before and After:

From 125 pounds to 117 pounds. Thanks to the Calorie Counting diet that my good friend Jody recommended to me.

I had a hard time at first maintaining the 1200 daily calorie. On my first few weeks, I always exceed my daily calorie limit but after a while, my body learned to adjust. I even was able to avoid sodas which I can’t live without before so I am really happy as this is a healthy change for me.

My target is to reach 110 pounds which is my pre-pregnancy weight but my parents and my husband are telling me that I am too thin already.

But with the upcoming long weekend, I am sure I will be pigging out again as my aunt and my grand mother will surely prepare a lot of food, which what they usually do when all us are together.

On a first time DUI arrest, things can get scary. You may never have been to jail, and you have no idea where to turn or what to do. The first thing to do is sober up and calm down. Once you are level-headed, you can begin to deal with the situation. Call a trusted friend or family member, and contact a lawyer. Each state handles DUI charges differently, but a few things are consistent no matter where you received the DUI charges.

Step One
Find out exactly what you are charged with. It may be a simple DUI, but if you resisted your arrest or had possession of any illegal substances or items, the charges may be more complicated. Make sure you understand what you're charged with so you can proceed the correct way. Officers are legally obligated to tell you the charges against you.

Step Two
Contact a lawyer at www.TotalDUI.com. Do not discuss the details of the case with your friends or family over the phone at the courthouse or jail, because these lines are not secure and whatever you say there can be used against you in court. Wait until you are alone with your lawyer to explain the situation and your side of the story. Your lawyer will advise you about who else you can speak with and what information is okay to tell.

Step Three

Step Five
If drinking is a serious problem for you, you need to consider getting help. A single DUI after an office party is one thing, but habitual problems at work, in school, in personal relationships and with the law due to drinking is an indication of alcoholism. If you drink to excess frequently, you could end up in prison or worse. Get help before your DUI arrest leads to something more serious.

Sneak Peek of Lucky Chinatown Mall

Last Friday, we were finally able to check out the newest mall near our place that is trending in Twitter, Lucky Chinatown Mall.

I don’t have much back log that day so I asked hubby if we can take a short drive and visit Lucky Chinatown Mall. We were a little disoriented at first when we arrived as we don’t know where the entrance to the parking lot is and the sidecar boys that we asked kept on insisting that we park along the streets. Thankfully the mall’s security guard pointed us to the right direction.

There are still a lot of stores that are close but I am really excited to see the list of stores that will soon be opening like Cotton ON (I hope their prices are not that expensive compared to Singapore), Aldo, Charles and Keith, my favorite Baby Fashionistas for Bela and many more.

I am excited too for the restaurants like Sambo Kojin which is like Yakimix, Bulgogi, Bonchon, etc.

As usual, we just went to Toy Kingdom as we were with the kids but I hope I can explore this mall soon with my shopping buddies.

Tears of Joy

As we sat on church chairs and watched as the bride walked down the aisle to meet his soon-to-be husband, I caught this on camera:

My cousin was crying as he was waiting for his bride. I know these are tears of joy. They have been together for a long time now and I know that they have been through a lot that is why I believe that they truly love each other as they survived every trials that came their way.

Bridal march never fails to make me cry but all the more I was touched when I saw the site of my cousin. I know that he is really happy as he is marrying the love of his life.

Gosh, I really love weddings and if only there is no money involve, I would be glad to go through this every year (of course with the same man. LOL).

All Dolled Up

I posted in my previous entry my picture when I had my fitting for the dress that I will be wearing for my cousin’s wedding. And now here is how it came out on the actual wedding day:

I love how my gown turned out. I had a hard time deciding what style to ask the couturier to make for me, as I have to hide my bulges and post-pregnancy fat. Of course I don’t want to look like I am wearing medical scrubs because the style does not complement my figure so I have to choose a design that will hide my big tummy.

So after various researches on the Internet and consulting with my online friends, I finally decided to go with my first choice but had ask the couturier to alter the design a little to make it empire cut to hide my bulges.

And the design was really effective. I really feel good wearing it and thanks to my hair and make-up too that adds to my confidence that day.

This is my entry for March’s Photo-a-day Theme Sunglasses:

I never really invest on good sunnies. I only buy those i2i shades as I rarely use it anyways and I only would want one if we will go to the beach. My first real investment for shades was the one on the right. It was a Mango sunnies and I think I even got it on sale. This shade has gone a long way already and has traveled with me to Europe and US but then I dropped it and it made a dent on the lens.

I know I need good quality shades as I experience eye problems when my cornea got infected after having sore eyes and so I thought that I should give myself a price and finally decided to invest on quality shades and Rayban was my choice.

DJ Mo Twister said that it has been proven that shades can improve the way you look by 15%. 25% if it an Aviator. LOL. This is a joke but I believe that I feel more confident (since it hides my eye bags. LOL) every time I am wearing my Aviator and I am glad I made the investment.

Pipit & Hazel: The Wedding

My cousin had a vintage themed wedding yesterday. It was super fun and we are thankful for all the family and friends who celebrated with our cousin on their special day:

There are so many things that the couple is thankful for:
1. The presence of the special people in the lives of the couple who all stayed till the end of the program.
2. Beautiful venue, Baluarte de San Diego Gardens with a very nice ambiance, thanks to patio furniture clearance.
3. The good weather. It was raining almost everyday the past weeks and so my cousin was really worried as they have a garden venue. I told them to offer eggs to Sta. Clara. My cousin and his wife bought eggs and they were surprised as the name of the cashier where they bought the eggs is Vicky and the total of their bill is 126. Vicky is our aunt, the groom’s mom, who died from cancer and her birthday is January 26 (1.26). She is indeed looking after her family.
4. The good food by Blue Petals
5. The beautiful event styling of the venue by our cousin Pido, the owner of Ambiance by Pido.
6. The surprise performance of their friends and the surprise AVP from the groom’s family.
7. And everything else that transpired that day.

Congrats again to Pipit and Hazel. We love you!!

Gown by Farley de Castro

My gown for tomorrow:

I had it made by my favorite Farley de Castro. I have known Farley during my w@w days and he was the one who made the gowns of all my relatives for our wedding. Since then I always come to him if I need cocktail dress or formal wear for weddings and for events at the office that I need to attend.

I love the quality of his gowns. The beadworks are very beautiful and is well fitted that I don’t need a vhb tape to hold it together. LOL. And the best part is it is very affordable.

That is why when I learned that my cousin is getting married, I know that I will turn to Farley again for the gown that I will be wearing for the wedding. And my aunts and cousins all had their gowns made by Farley too and they are all happy with the finish product.

We are all so excited to dress up tomorrow and be with our cousin as he says I do to the love of his life.

Shopping for the Perfect Lippie

I’m no makeup expert here and I only rely on tips from friends when it comes to buying my own makeup but I started shopping for a lippie last year and I got hooked. Thanks to my online friends, I was able to get a couple of ideas on what color to buy. But I realized that it’s not easy buying a lippie online. You can’t try it out on your lips so you are not even sure if it would fit your look. This is my #1 lesson learned. Never buy a lippie online especially if it’s a new color that you are purchasing. Make sure that you buy from a mall and try a couple of swatches.

As for choosing the right color for you, it depends on what you really like or what outfit you always wear. If you are always on the safe side, go for the color that would blend in your lips. Don't go more than a couple of shades lighter or darker than your natural lip color. Consider your skin tone too. If you have fair skin, go for colors with blue undertones, especially roses and pinks. With olive skin warm plums and can pull off beiges would be nice. And with dark skin choose deep, deep crimsons. Of course you will have to consider your hair color too. The lighter your hair color is, the brighter your lip color will look.

Because of things like this confirm that it’s really fun being a girl!
