New Inventory of Bags and Watches: Arriving Soon

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Looks like I will have to ask hubby to setup our pallet rack in our foyer as I just received a text from my friend that new stocks of branded bags and watches are arriving soon. This means that our house will be full of stocks again of bags and watches for sale with brands like Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Coach, Gucci and more.

My friend just sends it to us, her reseller, from the US and we just sell it to our circle of friends here in the Philippines. I started helping my friend sell her stuff September of last year and I realized that it is really a good sideline work.

I have sold more than 20 bags already and I was able to buy one of the watches for sale from my earnings.

Hope I will be able to make good sales again in the new batch that will be arriving so I will have the budget as I am eyeing another watch again from the incoming stocks. :-)

What you need to consider when finding a Christmas party venue London

Christmas has been and gone for another year, and everyone is feeling a bit down in the dumps about it. But instead of feeling depressed, why not look forward to the festive period ahead? Lots and lots of people wait until last minute in order to find the best Christmas party venues and they end up regretting it. This is because they have all been booked via individuals who were organised and hired the venues early.

If you are thinking about booking early, then make sure you read the guide below in order to help you find the best Christmas party venue London in 2013...

The cost of hiring the venue is obviously very important. The great thing about booking in advance is that you will benefit from some great deals. Not only this, but you may also be able to pay in instalments as well which will make things much more manageable. The best thing to do is to define a budget. Once you have done this you can begin to look around on the internet and shortlist venues. You will find that some of the top venues offer different priced packages in order to fit into your needs.

You need to pick somewhere which is easy for everyone to get to. After all, nobody wants to have to drive for hours and hours to get to a venue. Make sure that you pay attention to public transport in the area as well. After all; not everybody drives, nor will they be able to after a few drinks

The overall look of the venue is important because it adds to the atmosphere. Make sure that you go for somewhere with an attractive image which will add to the evening. It is up to you whether you want to go for something modern or classic. Nevertheless, be sure for a place with bright lights and excitement in order to get everybody in the right mood.

Christmas time is all about eating and thus you will want to find out what the venue has to offer in terms of food and beverages. A mixture of cocktails and cold canapés tends to be the preferred choice for many. This is because it has a luxurious and exclusive feel about it. Moreover, when you are going to be stuffing your face with turkey only a few weeks later, it is always nice to have something light when your party shoes are on.

This not only relates to availability with regards to the date in which you want to host your party, but also the time frame available. After all, you want to make sure your party lasts for a decent few hours and that it is not cut short just when people are beginning to get into the full swing of things.

To conclude, if you consider the five points mentioned in this article then you should have no trouble finding the perfect venue for your Christmas party.

Author's Bio: George Harrison is an even manager who has been working in this field for the last ten years and doing a fabulous job. He has an in depth knowledge about various venue ideas for the most successful events and parties. In this article he is sharing some valuable information with us on a Christmas party venue London.

On a Diet

Small frequent meals. This is the trick that my friend suggested so I will not tend to over eat and get off track my diet plan.

I went back to dieting after the holidays as I am sure that I gained weight after all the parties and pigging out during the Christmas season. And it has been confirmed as I now weighed 122 pounds from my previous weight of 115 pounds.

I have to slow down a bit on my dieting as I feel that it is not working for me because it has been 3 weeks already and I haven’t loose even a single pound. So I want to try eating in small but high frequency, food like these delicious barefruitsnacks so I will always feel full which lessens the tendency for me to overeat.

I really want to go back to my pre-pregnancy weight of 110 pounds so I am hoping that this diet plan will really work for me.

A cup of Fashion to Get You Started

This is an industry that is evolving every single minute of the day. There is always something new in the world of fashion. It can be either for men’s wear or women’s wear. The world is full of things that give the inspiration which is needed for these fashion designers to perfect the next best thing. To many people fashion means cloths and the way they are worn. Whereas we believe that fashion is everything around us and everything we do. From the clothes we wear to the food we eat, the home we live in and the food we consume everything is considered as fashion. For instance you would never want to change the way your life is going. You would want to keep it plain and simple this is not a good thing. In order to survive in this world you will always have to keep up with what it has to offer. If you take a look at a person who tends to think that fashion means by purchasing the biggest and luxurious house. This is a type of mentality which certain people have. It can imply with people who are in love with vehicles and even pets.

The way the human mind works is very astonishing. Women and men have their separate sense of style which has kept a balance in the society. In the good old days women’s wear was considered long dresses and corsets but in the current era women are well known to wear several other types of clothes such as jeans and shirts. This has happened due to the change in eras. This is not considered a bad thing. Women are keeping up with the development of the world.

Major fashion brands make it a point to sign in certain celebrity superstars in order to advertise their brand and design. If you take a good example of various fashion trends under one roof then the Academy Awards is the place to be. Celebrities make sure to show off their lovely dresses on the red carpet that get the attention it deserves. Vibrant dresses that illuminate the colours of the rainbow can be seen in these types of shows. Whilst women tend to wear dresses men are well equipped with classy and elegant tuxedos that are tailor made with the finest quality materials. These dresses are hand made by major fashion labels which many people tend to purchase on a regular basis. Generally every human being is bound to have a separate fashion style. This is what makes everybody different from each other. The sense of clothes and the attitude of a person will show a level of sophistication all the time. In some countries fashion icons are worshipped like gods. People copy styles such as hair, body and even go to the extent of having plastic surgery. There is no shortage of fashion trends and this is just the beginning of a long and vigorous transformation of the world of fashion and style.

How Modeling Is Empowering

So much flack gets thrown on the modeling industry these days from various corners. People throw around words like "artificial" and "unrealistic". Of course, modeling can be both of these things - but it can also be so much more than that. Modeling isn't some Barbie-perfect career, especially today. Expanded opportunities for people of all shapes, sizes and looks has made the playing field much more egalitarian and real.

Modeling is a huge source of empowerment for many girls and women. Using something that you were born with - your looks - to ensnare an audience is a great source of power. Feeling beautiful, sexy or just plain cute isn't a bad thing. Using your skills, even inherent ones, shouldn't be looked down upon. Models, just like anybody else, are career-focused and aim to use their looks and their talents to get ahead in life.

Modeling also takes a great amount of talent. It's not for everyone. Learning to pose and look good no matter what the situation are not talents that everyone has. Models need to have excellent self-awareness while still maintaining great people skills to get ahead. Physicality and personality go hand in hand in the modeling world. It's less about what you look like when you get up in the morning and more about how you look on camera or walking down the runway. It's a demanding job that requires skill and talent in a variety of different areas.

Many of today's top models aren't just silly airheads who don't know any better. Models like Tyra Banks and Gisele Bundchen have used their fame and money to help make the world a better place. Many models would continue doing the work even if they weren't getting paid. They're in a career they truly love and would likely continue to do regardless of pay level.

With a variety of different body types, shapes and sizes taking the modeling world by storm, it's not the same field it once was. Today's best models all look different. There's a place for almost anybody with determination and talent. It's a matter of leveraging those skills into a career. Models often find that they learn new skills nearly constantly, since each photo shoot is a new learning experience.

Modeling is more than just having a pretty face and "perfect" body. Today's modeling world is different from years past. Having a career as a model can be incredibly empowering for so many reasons. If you love what you do and you're good at it, what's wrong with that?

Strangest Fashion Trends in History

Fashion trends come and go and some leave an impression, while others just fade into history without much fanfare. The fashion trends that tend to stick in our minds are the ones that were out of the ordinary, not socially acceptable and sometimes, just weird.

Below are a few of the strangest fashion trends in history.

The Lotus Foot

Going back to the 10th century, a very strange fashion trend emerged that was quite a shock. Woman began to break and bind their feet so as to allow them to fit into tiny shoes. This became very popular and parents began doing this to young girls at age 6 or 7. Soon it became a symbol of wealth and status to have mutilated feet that would “heal” in a malformed manner, with high arches and allowing them to fit into small shoes.

Tall Wigs

Wearing a tall wig was another form of status symbol in some parts of the world, especially in 17th century France. These wigs could be 1 or even 2 feet high in some cases and then were accompanied by a very flamboyant hat. This added an extra 2 plus feet on and was popular among men and women, especially those of a high social status like lawyers, judges and politicians.

The Bird Mask

It sounds like something out of a horror movie, but a fashion trend of the past included wearing bird masks with large beaks. This was more than just a fashion trend though and functioned more like a modern day surgery mask for a doctor. Doctors who were surrounded by people with contagious diseases wore these masks as a form of respirator which they thought would protect them from airborne illness.

100_8203 Lady in green crinoline
If you are a fan of old British movies or theatre, you will know exactly what a Crinoline is. It’s basically a series of hoops that go inside a dress to make it appear large. This was meant to represent the amount of personal space that should stay between a chaste young woman and her male companion, but they weren’t overly easy to manage and could sometimes be quite a hassle to deal with.

Ganguro Girls A strange trend from the last 1990’s and early 2000’s, this involved young women of Japanese descent who would try to look black. They would use make-up and tanning to produce a skin color that made them appear as though they were from an African country, rather than Japan.

Neck Rings

Popular in some Asian and African regions and cultures, this involved putting rings around the neck, starting at a young age, forcing it to elongate. In some cultures, wearing neck rings to elongate the neck begins only when a young woman gets married, which can happen as early as 12 years of age. No one is quite sure when this practice began, but it could be hundreds or even thousands of years old.

Do you know of any weird or strange fashion trends of the past, either from North America or beyond that we may not be aware of?

For my Dad's Birthday

Friday, January 18, 2013

Yay, how time flies and January is almost over. That is why I am already in panic because that means the birthday of my dad is drawing near and we haven’t prepared anything. I have to talk to my siblings if they are planning anything special for my dad’s birthday so they can share with the expense. LOL.

As for the gift, that is something that I can take care of easily as I can just check on to look for and buy my dad’s favorite cigar. This is a no brainer as I can just check what cigar he has in his cabinet and that is what I will order.

My dad will be turning 59 years old and sometimes he can be really melodramatic. LOL. SO we have to plan for his big day as early as now so we can make sure that we will really make him feel extra, extra special on his special day.

Top 5 most recognizable dresses in cinema

Every little piece of clothing worn in a movie is considered as costume. Some are elaborate while others are casual. They are all used to tell a story and communicate aspects of the character’s personality. Actors once suited up in costume leave their personalities behind and bring the character in the script to life on screen.

For a few films the fashion lingers a lot longer than the actual script. The costumes that jump out and place a stamp on our minds remain for a lifetime. There are many such instances but in this article we’ll look five of the most recognizable dresses in cinema.

Marilyn Monroe - The Seven Year Itch (1955)

The giggling image of Marilyn Monroe as she stands over a subway grate in a white halter dress from William Travilla will forever be stamped in the minds of generations past and those to come. A halter dress that was worn more than sixty years still makes an impression today because of the way it looked on Ms. Monroe.

While the design and fabric used served to emphasize the hips and the cleavage the dress itself was immortalized by the director’s decision to have the star stand over a subway grate close to Grand Central station and use the draft of an incoming training to lift the skirt. Due to the crowds at the scene had to be reshot in a studio.

Movie posters used this enticing image to capture audience attention and increase the interest in the movie. That image still remains as strong today with copies of the dress being sold at popular auction sites. There is also countless merchandise with this image that still sells today.

Keira Knightley - Atonement (2007)

A new generation of movie goers has in a recent poll voted Keira Knightley’s dress worn in the Atonement as the greatest costume movie has ever seen. They chose the green satin halter gown in favor of other iconic dresses like those worn by Marilyn Monroe and Scarlett O Hara. The wonderful satin fabric gathered wonderfully at Keira’s waist and ended in a long train.

The costume designed by Jacqueline Durran was made under the directions of the director Joe Wright who insisted on a green dress. The deep jewel tones of the dress were accomplished through the use three different sheer fabrics in varying shades of green.

Audrey Hepburn - Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly may have inspired the term little black dress. Designed by Hubert de Givenchy the dress was the perfect complement to Audrey’s slim frame and provided the ideal frame for her beautiful face. The dress was worn with long black gloves and five rows of jewels.

This gown has been judged a few times as the greatest female dress on film. The original dress had a slit that was too high for film so the lower half was altered by Edith Head. The original dress which was hand-stitched sits in Givenchy's private archive, one copy remains on display in the Museum of Film and the other copy was auctioned at Christies.

Cate Blanchett - Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007)

Enshrouded in a heavy brocade fabric Elizabeth (played by Cate Blanchett) is lord (ahem Lady) of the Court. With heavily powdered white face and egret plumes the whole look comes together creating a 19th century look that will forever stay in our minds.

Designed by Alexandra Byrne who has been known for his golden ages revivals in costume the dresses really helps to take us back into that period.

Vivien Leigh - Gone With the Wind (1939)

Last but by no means the least is the red velvet come hither robe worn by Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O’Hara in Gone With the Wind. In the dialogue she might have been saying no with her lips but her dress with the scooped out neckline and clinched waist was beckoning Clark Butler to come.

A lot of period research went into the making of the dress designed by Walter Plunkett. The sultry palette and rich textures of the fabric showed up well in screen and makes it one of the most memorable dresses today.

What are some of your most memorable movie dresses?

My Aviator

Cobi: Mom, I think that sunglasses are too big for you.
LOL. I was really laughing after hearing that from Cobi. When I was deciding to buy for my first Rayban sunnies, I was deciding between the Aviator and the other design, which has a smaller frame. I even asked my friends to help me decide and I posted my pictures wearing the sunglasses over at Instagram. Majority voted for the other design but since I am hardheaded and stubborn and my heart is really for the aviator that is what I end up buying.

And now my 2-year-old son is lecturing me about fashion too. LOL. I should have listened to my friends in the first place since I am really clueless when it comes to fashion.
