Technology and Its Impact to People

Friday, December 30, 2011

Are we all certain how education is very important to anyone of us? Surely, education is one of our basic needs just like the food and clothing. Though we can survive without education for a day or week, its effect will most probably take place in the future. As what we can observe, people who are very fortunate enough to graduate and finish their degree have more chances of having a job. Just think of how you are going to work and deal with other people if you don’t know how to read, write and communicate well with other people.

Indeed, education is very much important to us. In fact, having a good quality of education is part of every human’s rights. It is very essential that we know a lot of things because this will help us in the future. No matter how small you’ve started, you will be able to reach your goals in the future because you are very capable with a lot of things. There are only few people who succeed even without proper education and that is because they persevered and worked hard enough to attain their achievements.

Today, as we discuss education, we have a new application designed to promote the importance and standard of education. As our technology advances, we also have advanced technologies that offer education even without going to school. This open source learning management system works in cyber environment and that includes the use of the most powerful and most commonly used technology today, which is the Internet. Its main focus is to provide education to students who prefer to study at home or any place that is more comfortable for them.

You may start wondering how this learning management system works and perhaps most of you have doubts with its effectiveness. But what most people don’t know is that, it has proven to be very effective because it offers many programs and courses just like in any other school. All students enrolled in the said system are capable of getting in touch with other people and they are also encouraged to join and participate with the various programs offered by lms.

Furthermore, every activity done by an individual is being tracked and reported so as to monitor their progress and let them know the things that need improvement. Likewise, both the students and instructors have the opportunity to use the available teaching materials such as video chat, forums, online chat e-mail service and more as they continue with the completion of their courses. With these tools, students will feel at ease and comfortable while they are studying and they will be able to feel that they are in a normal campus.

Evaluation sheets, certificates completes, courses taken, examinations and attendance are the very basis of the records. These are the main activities that will be tracked by the system to see if the students are making a progress in the courses that they are currently taking. People need not to worry because everything will be documented and presented to every students and instructors.

Now we can further say that technology leaves a very big impact to every individual because it even gives importance to matters like education. It has moved every people and that’s why we are somehow dependent with a lot of technologies now. This is the very reason why people are still looking forward for more innovations because they can see the benefits that will indeed help them for almost everyday. We always want instant and quicker solutions because as a person, we also value our time and indeed, technology helps us to save time and energy in many ways possible.

My New Shopping Love

Thursday, December 29, 2011

I used to be a bag addict. 2010 was the time when I was completely hooked with bags that I spend a big bunch of my earnings just for designer bags.

But after we have made a big decision to finally purchase our own house this year, I now have a new love when it comes to shopping and this time it is shopping for our dream home. We are almost done purchasing for the basic needs of our house to make it conducive to living. Our next project now is to add a little touch to the house to reflect our personality.

One of our priority projects is buying quality bedroom furniture. Our bedroom is our retreat where hubby and I can relax, bond with the kids and just rest that is why we want it to have a very cool and relaxing aura and these bedroom furniture from White Company will surely help us achieve that:

Night Out with my Girl Friends

Last December 27, I met up with my best buddies from college. Two of them came home to Manila for a vacation during the holiday season and thanks to Facebook, we were able to get in touch with each other including our other friends whom we haven’t seen since we graduated from college.

We met up at Trinity in Macapagal. Jean, together with her husband and son fetched Vanessa and her kids in Pasay and Myra and her family in Valenzuela before heading to Trinity. My family and I with Carol’s family went to Macapagal together and we arrive there around 8 PM (as always, Carol and I are the last one who arrived. LOL).

Vanessa, Myra and Jean already went to the market to buy the ingredients and when we arrived, the food is already cooking.

We had a very good dinner and we were really able to catch up with old times. We were laughing so hard as we reminisce our crazy college days. It was too noisy at Trinity as we were seated outside where there is a band so we decided to move to Starbucks after dinner.

Dinner & coffee w/ my college friends. Last time I saw some of them was during our graduation

We continued our chika at Starbucks and if only Starbucks were not closing, we could have stayed there the whole night to just chat and reminisce.

Vanessa and Carol will be flying back to Qatar and Singapore this week and we wish them a safe flight back. For us who were left here in Manila, hope we can schedule another get together soon.

It was a very fun night out with my girl friends. It was nice seeing you all again.

A Little Short? Try One of These 6 Great Ways to Uncover Some Green

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Having some trouble making ends meet? Finding ways to earn a little extra cash is a great way to pad out your piggy bank should a rainy day show up, and that rainy day could be unexpected bills, an issue with the car, or new (“Didn’t I tell you?”) shoes for ballet class. Taking in extra money each month is also a great way to save for something you want but can’t finagle with your current budget (those gorgeous shoes, perhaps?). How exactly can you uncover a little more green each month? Here are six ideas that won’t make you a millionaire, but will help pad your pockets:

1. Raid Your Closet
The closet is a great first stop in your quest for cash. Pick out items you know you’re not likely to wear or use again, price them reasonably, and put them on a free classifieds site like Craig's List. Pictures will improve your chances for a sale, so pull out the camera. Don’t forget the attic, the basement, those boxes of junk, or a child’s forgotten toy collection.

2. Try Your Hand at Freelance
Gifted with excellent grammar? Have a design degree? Skilled with your digital camera? Try leasing out your skill by taking on a freelance gig here and there. Websites that advertise opportunities can be found online, and your friends or family members may know of a possibility too.

3. Tap into Your Skills and Talents
Are you a fabulous gardener? A superb baker? Can you explain math so well everyone always gets it? Everyone has skills and talents, and the trick is finding out what yours are and how you can make them work for you. Offer tutoring, in home classes to groups, or music lessons. Great with a camera? Take portraits in people’s homes or sell your photos to stock image companies.

4. Sell What You Create
You know those knitted scarves you’ve run out of friends to make them for? Maybe it’s time you sold those lovely creations for some cash. From knitted toys to jewelry to your prized piccalilli, if you have a hobby, you can take your creations to Etsy and spread the word to friends and family.

5. Provide a Little Service
Didn’t your neighbor mention they hate cleaning their house? Or their poor dog they just don’t have time to walk? A little service here and there can add up to a tidy payoff. Offer to clean neighbor’s houses, mow lawns, wash cars, walk dogs, or even help with secretarial needs.

6. Send out the SOS
Some cash needs come out of nowhere, so conventional methods like those above may not pay off as up front as you need. When emergencies arise, seek assistance from trusted sources like friends and family, or find out about small installment loans such as those at Great Plains Lending installent loans online. You can always use the other five ideas to help pay back a willing friend.

Busy Month

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

I have been doing marathon shopping for the past two weeks. I have been so busy lately that it was only two weeks ago when I seriously started working on my Christmas shopping list. I was actually able to finish my long shopping list, thanks to online shopping and the sale items that I was able to buy from Toys R’ Us and SM.

But I still have a lot of work to do, as I still have to wrap each of the gifts. I was just looking at all the items that I need to wrap and I can’t help but wish that I have the clawfoot tubs by bathsofdistinction so I can have a relaxing bath after finishing my Christmas To-do list.

December used to be my favorite month as the mood is really festive and I get to do one of the things that I love the most which is shopping. But because of my hectic online and offline life, I still can’t feel the holiday season.

But I am glad I was able to meet my deadline today and I only have to work until tomorrow, then I will already be in vacation mode.

Tips When Using Your Credit Card for Your Holiday Shopping

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

It is just a few weeks before Christmas and for sure your holiday shopping is already in full swing. Most of us use our credit card for shopping, as it is more convenient than carrying cash with us.

Though credit card offers great convenience, shoppers must also be wary when shopping using their credit card if they want to avoid debt that they can’t pay and may lead to financial stress. December can be the most expensive month for most of us as we shop for gifts for our friends, relatives, and colleagues. It is the season of giving but it does not mean that we need to overspend and break our bank.

Here are a few tips on how to use your credit card wisely as you do your holiday shopping:

1. Make a list. Before you hit the shopping malls and online stores, make sure you make a list of the people that you need to buy gifts for as well as items that you want to give to those individuals. It is important to have a list as it s very easy to be distracted with all the nice items in the stores that you might end up buying stuff even if you have no one to give it to.
2. Set a budget. Set a budget for each item that you want to buy so you will not overspend. A few hundred dollars over your set budget may seem small if you look at it individually but you will be surprise at how much it will turn out in the end after seeing your credit card bills after your shopping.
3. Be Safe and Secure. When shopping online, make sure that you use your credit card to reliable sites only. Check if they use encryption technology to avoid any hacking and fraudulent transactions.

Happy holiday shopping!

2012 Starbucks Planner

Since I have been very busy the past weeks, hubby always comes home with my favorite hot Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks. He started collecting stickers, as he knows that I want to have the 2012 Starbucks planner.

I actually haven’t seen the planner but I just asked hubby to continue collecting the stickers for me. It was only the other day, when I personally bought my cup of coffee that I saw the designs that they have for the 2012 Starbucks planner.

Bet nyo?

I think it is made from recycled material and it is smaller than their usual planner. Hubby was able to collect half of the stickers required to get the planner but I am thinking now if I should continue collecting stickers or I should just go with the Belle de Jour planner.

What do you think? Do you link the style and the design of the new Starbucks planner?

Prepare your Clothing Racks, Bills, and Old Stuff: Tips for Running a Successful Garage Sale

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

My husband and I are planning to have a garage sale so we can sell the old clothes and stuff that we have that we no longer use. Since we move to our new home, my husband and I realized that we have a lot of clutter that we no longer use and it is time for us to learn to let go so we can free up some space in our new home and hopefully collect some funds from the sale to buy new items for our new house.

So how do you organize a successful garage sale?

First and foremost is that you should dedicate time (a month or more before the scheduled garage sale) to look around the house for possible things that you can sell. Do not leave anything behind as who knows, someone might still be interested to buy it. The only thing that you should not include in the garage sale and should go straight to the trash can or recycling bin are broken items or stuff that has missing parts.

Once you have gathered all the stuff for sale, schedule a day or two during the weekend for the sale. Organize the stuff and group similar items like CDs, furniture’s, toys, clothes, shoes, etc. so clients will not have a hard time check out your stuff. For the clothes, it is better to hang them using Clothing Hangers on racks. This is better than putting them in one pile as Clothing Racks allows people to have a good view of the clothes that you are selling so they can choose better and this can help generate more sales for you.

It is also advisable to put price tags so people walking in the garage sale can immediately see the prices per items to convince them to buy something from the sale. Prepare also lots of coins and dollar bills so you can easily provide change as customer pays.

Prepare also plastic retail shopping bags where you can put items bought by customers.

I am sure by following these steps, our planned garage sale will be a success.

Christmas Rush is Really Here

Saturday, December 10, 2011

Busy Christmas month + Rain

Not a very good combination.

This was the situation last night as it was raining the whole day yesterday and so it was really a bad idea that I went to the mall after the party that I attended at PGH yesterday to shop. There were also a lot of sale going on so the mall was really crowded.

So before I get stranded on the road, I just decided to look for reading glasses (as I really need one after my cornea got infected when I had conjunctivitis) and went out of the mall and head straight home after buying one. I realized we would be going back to the mall anyways the next day so that is where I will do my shopping then.

We are scheduled to leave early today to go to The Block or Eastwood, as I need to check for Bela’s Christmas outfit. I need to look one for hubby and me too and we only have until 4 PM to shop, as we will have visitors in the afternoon for my office friends’ annual Christmas party.

So it will be a very busy (and tiring day) for us so wish us luck.

Christmas Shopping Rush

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

Almost all my friends are already posting pictures of their Christmas preparations and they are almost done with their Christmas shopping and wrapping of their gifts and I want to panic.

I still have a long list of names that I need to shop gifts for and then I have to wrap each of the gifts after.

I will ask Bela to skip her gymnastics class this Saturday so we can shop the whole day for our Christmas attire and more gifts for our relatives and friends. I am actually having a hard time selecting gifts for my uncles and my brother-in-law that I am already tempted to get them wiring loom. But why not? Wire looms are very useful as it can help tidy wires in homes and offices and we have found it very useful to organize the cables in our entertainment system so I am sure my uncles and my brother-in-law will be able to find a good use for it.

I am excited and stressed in a way. But I realized I am always like this every Christmas season and we were able to survive this busy season so hopefully I will be able to get things done so I can start celebrating the holidays.

Christmas Shopping

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

It is just 19 days before Christmas. Have you done your Christmas shopping already?

As for me, all my weekends for December are fully booked so I am not sure if we will still have time to go to the malls and do our Christmas shopping.

But thanks to online shopping, I was able to complete almost half of my shopping list already. Through automated clearing house, I was also able to pay for all my purchases online, conveniently and securely.

Here are some sites where I bought some of my gifts:

1. Personalized items from Artscow for my female relatives, my co-parents and Bela's teachers
2. Shirts, polos, slippers, hoodies for my male relatives and cousins and hubby's siblings, nieces and nephews from Old Navy
3. Personalize items from Tiny Foot Prints for my friends and colleagues
4. Woodie Kiddie Stools for Bela's classmates

Now if only I can find time to start wrapping the gifts, then I can say that I am ready for Christmas.

Melissa is Love

My sister and I love Melissa shoes because it is so comfy and their styles are so fashionable (and not to mention it smells really nice too). That is why every time I have money to splurge for shoes, it always is a pair of Melissa.

So would you call us addicts if we say that we own these Melissa shoes?

Melissa is Love
Majority of the shoes on pile belong to my sister because shoes are really one of her addictions. That is why when she had an opportunity to grab these Melissa shoes on a discount (like almost 50% discount), she did not think twice and ordered more than 5 shoes for her (let’s say the range is from 5-15. LOL).

This is good news for me as we are the same size and this means I now have more Melissa shoes too as I can borrow hers anytime. In fact I am wearing one right now and I love it. I am convincing her to get more (and I have a hidden agenda so I will have more options to choose from if I need to borrow any of her Melissa shoes. LOL).

New Work

I thought that Medical & Clinical Laboratory Technologist Jobs will best fit my sister so when she was still deciding on what course to take, medical courses is one of my suggestions. I even suggested a course in IT for her second choice, as this is my course and I can say that I am happy with the work (and the pay) that I have now.

She did follow our advice and she took up Computer Science. She worked for a year in the IT field but I never seen her happy except now ever since she decided to follow her heart and change career path.

She works as an area manager for a popular brand and she just loves the perks that come with the job – the free products, travel, meeting different kinds of people (even celebrities and more).

She will be going to Hong Kong in February for a business trip and she is just so excited about this. Well, as long as she is happy, then her family is just here to support her decision.
