In New York...

Monday, January 24, 2011

I was watching the Project Runway show and the 16 finalists were staying in an apartment where there is a good view of the Empire State Building and I can’t help but smile since I can already picture my family having our picture taken in the viewing deck of the Empire State.

Hubby was able to finish our first draft of Itinerary for our upcoming US trip and we will be staying in New York for five days. I wish we can stay in a posh apartment just like setai 5th ave so I can really feel how it is like to be a New Yorker but I am not sure if I still have a budget for that. And besides friends and relatives already invited us to stay with them and we can’t say no to their offer since it will just be the only time for us to catch up after not seeing them for more than a decade.

I have a long list of places to visit in New York which includes:

• The Statue of Liberty
• The Empire State building (and hopefully there will be no long lines as we go up the famous building so we can see a bird’s eye view of the city)
• Central Park and the Central Park zoo for Bela
• Rockefeller Center and its viewing deck which I heard has a much better view of the city than the Empire State Building
• Times Square
• Brooklyn Bridge
• The Financial district
• The National Library (where Carrie was supposed to get married)
• Woodbury Commons Premium Outlet Store

I am not sure though how we can finish our IT with just five days. But I think it is doable as hubby and I were able to do it a few years ago during our first time in New York. It will just be more challenging this time as we have kids in tow. LOL.

On SATC, Fashion & Beauty

Saturday, January 22, 2011

As I posted in my previous entry, I am planning to join the SATC tour during our vacation in New York. I am a big fan of the SATC girls. I just admired how strong their relationship bond is and I can’t help wishing that I have the same kind of friends as Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.

Aside from lessons about love and friendship, one thing that I like about the SATC TV series is that I can get ideas and tips about fashion and beauty. This is the reason why I am inspired, and is thinking, to enrol at Regency Beauty Institute.

Regency Beauty Institute is a fastest growing Cosmetology school in the US. They only started with just two campuses and now they have 80 across nineteen states. They became a trusted name when it comes to beauty schools as they give their students the best hands on training since their campuses reflect up scale salons with high end equipment. Aside form the best training, they also help their students get better jobs after the training since they are connected with spa and salon owners and even cruises and runways.

Who knows, maybe beauty and fashion industry is my real calling.

This blog post was based on information provided by Blogitive. For more information, please visit or contact Regency Beauty Institute – 7100 Northland Circle, Suite 312 – Brooklyn Park, MN 55428

SATC Tour in New York

One of the reasons why I am so excited for our upcoming US trip is because I can finally join the Sex and the City tour which I missed when I first went to New York. I actually learned about this tour when hubby and I were already in New York and since this is a very popular tour, you have to book in advance to join the tour. I tried purchasing tickets during those dates where we are in New York but all dates are fully booked already.

So when hubby told me that we are going to New York, I specifically told hubby that this tour should have a slot in our Itinerary. Actually, I can do the tour while Bela, Cobi, hubby and my mom can check out the Central Park Zoo.

The tour cost $40 per person and it run for 3.5 hours. I checked out the site of All New York tours website and got the tour highlights include:
• Visit over 40 locations seen in Sex and the City on this tour!
• Listen to expert narration from your friendly guide aboard our luxury motor coach.
• Have a cupcake at the bakery where Carrie and Miranda ate cupcakes (cupcake not included).
• Stop at a bar used on Sex and the City (drinks not included).
• Visit the church where Samantha meets The Friar.
• Go on location to the gallery in SoHo where Charlotte worked.
• Stop at the store where Charlotte bought her Rabbit.
• See the furniture store where Aidan designed his pieces.
• See one of Carrie's favorite shoe stores!
• Check out some of the Sex and the City movie locations!
Wow, I will be in heaven for sure after this tour as I am one big SATC fan.

Why Do People Need to Know Time?

Friday, January 21, 2011

People's need to know time started way back before the recorded history. During the pre-historic period, people used the heavenly bodies such as the stars, the sun and the moon to tell time. Changes in seasons and changes of the day and night were also used to tell time. These primitive ways of telling time were used because they need to know time. Time is necessary to tell when to plant crops, when to harvest and when to hold feasts and celebrations.

Later years, the people learned to measure time with the use of sundials, hourglasses, and water clocks. The sundials used poles and sticks to tell time. Then, large structures such as pyramids and huge trees were used to tell time. The sundial was improved with the use of round disks and hour dials. History can not be recorded without the measurement of time with the use of these different crude devices for time telling.

Improvements in time telling occurred within many years. It happened from the large metallic parts in the 1300's to the smaller devices in the 1400's which gave emergence to the watches and clocks of today. During the earlier part of 1700's, there arose the need for more precise clock. Cash rewards were offered by the British Government for people who can invent an accurate clock for navigational purposes. The offer was to avoid more deaths among sailors who died during voyages because of lack of accurate time telling needed to calculate their exact location at sea.

Not only for sea traveling purposes was accurate time needed, it was also needed by the pilots of Pan AM Airways who pioneered the transcontinental flights. At that time, Rolex Company took the challenge and created the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master watch.

Today, the experience of having a great timepiece can be achieved by buying Rolex imitation horologes. The GMT-Master Oyster clone can give any person the experience of success with an accurate timepiece.

Happy with Nanny # 2

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

This blog has been a testimony of my nanny woes as it is here where I post stories about my frustrations in looking for a good nanny for my kids. I have tried everything from agencies, to friend referrals and even took the risk of sending money to my friends in the province so they can send a nanny for me here in Manila. I think I have tried all types of nanny that you can find from the young to the old, to the single and married. I even lost count already on how many nannies we had in just five years.

So when my mom got sick two weeks ago and was advised by her doctor to have a complete rest, I knew that I have to find a second nanny for Cobi. I was so desperate already in getting a new nanny. My Nanny # 1 is referring her friend to me but I did not hire her friend after seeing the tattoo on her leg. I know there are good tattoo removal creams in the market, but I did not feel comfortable in getting her as someone that I can trust to take care of my kids.

But I guess it was God’s work again and just a few days after I texted Sr Flor, I got a message from her informing me that they have an available nanny for us. The nanny that she is giving us is 27 years old, married with one kid. The only condition that the nanny stated was that we will allow her to take a day off for two days, once a month so she can visit her child which we completely agree as it is our normal rule for all our house help.

We fetched her last Sunday, January 9 and it has only been less than two weeks and I can really see how efficient she is. I can even see her true love for my kids and I know she loves her work and how dedicated she is to it. I can really compare her work ethics with my Nanny # 1. I really feel that she is heaven sent to us.

I just really hope and pray that she is the nanny that we have long been praying for and that I really hope that we can keep her long, until Cobi is in her teens already.

My Day

Hubby worked overtime yesterday as he wants to try to finish all his work so he can take a leave so he can spend some time with me on my birthday so it was almost 12 midnight already when he came home. He rang the doorbell and I was the one who opened the door for him and he was all smiles when I opened the door and he handed me this:

He even went to Dangwa, as he knows that it is the only store open during the wee hours of the night so he can get me this special rose. I was really so happy with hubby’s sweetness. Simple things like this make me fall in love with him more. I told my online friends about hubby’s surprise and they are all teasing me that it looks like I will be taking the best prenatal vitamins soon because of hubby’s sweetness. LOL.

We did not do anything special on my birthday but it became extra special because I spent it with my kids, my hubby and my family and there is really nothing more that I could ever ask for.

105 Messages

105 messages. That is the number of unread messages in my Inbox when I opened my Yahoo account. I was out almost the whole day as I went to Bela’s school for a meeting with her teacher and then I went home so I can bring Bela to school. While waiting for Bela, we stayed in one of the malls near Bela’s school and did a little shopping. We dropped by at hubby’s office to fetch him also and it was already 5:30 PM when we reached home. Hubby insisted that we go somewhere for dinner to celebrate my birthday but I was lazy to go out and so we just got food from Kenny Rogers for take out.

So I was offline for most of the day and I was so surprised when I saw the hundreds of messages in my Inbox. It was actually my email notification in Facebook and I was really overwhelmed with the overflowing love that I got from my family and friends. Thank you guys for remembering my birthday and for the sweet greetings that you left on my Facebook wall. Thank you also for all those who called and texted me just to greet me on my special day. I really feel so loved and blessed. You guys really made my birthday extra, extra special.I love you all. Mwah!!

I need to look for cheap auto insurance as our car insurance will be expiring soon but I can’t seem to get my mind off the recent Twitter discussion that we had which is about the Lumix LX5 camera.

All my friends who are previous SLR users are raving about this camera. Who wouldn’t love it when you can get the features and performance of a high end SLR camera but it is so compact since it’s as small as the handy point and shoot camera.

Bela will be having a field trip this coming Wednesday and only one companion is allowed so I was teasing Howell and I was telling him that it would be difficult for me to ran after Bela while carrying his big SLR camera so it would really be cool if I have my own Lumix. But hubby just smiled. I know there is no way I’m gonna have my Lumix since our budget is a bit loaded now. Thankfully, I was able to borrow the LX5 of my brother.

Oh well, someday, I hope and I wish that I will be able to play with my own Lumix LX5.

Congrats: 2nd Baby

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Somebody is taking pre natal vitamins again. Yes, there is someone I know who is one month pregnant now with her second child. I am not sure if they are already open about it so I am keeping her identity for now but she will surely be revealed here as it is good news for our family.

She and her husband are both hoping that it will be a baby boy this time but as always, Thy will be done and so they are just praying for a healthy baby. They just had their first check-up and the baby is already one month old.

Oh I am so excited for them and for Cobi too as he will have a new playmate. Getting this good news as we enter 2011 is really a wonderful way to start the New Year.

So to you my friend, take care always and hope you have a safe pregnancy!!

First for 2011

Thursday, January 13, 2011

We are hoping that 2011 will be a good year for our business as we really need all the extra income that we can get to help us finance a major project that hubby and I will undertake for this year.

That is why I am very happy when I received an inquiry for the photography service that hubby is offering. The event is on January 27 and it is a formal event so I am already looking for mens ties for hubby so that he has something nice to wear when he covers the event.

It hasn’t been finalized yet but we are hoping that they will get hubby’s service. They will be our first client for 2011 so hubby is really excited. Hubby was already telling me that if they book us, then we will have a budget for our anniversary celebration. I wonder what hubby is planning for our 6th year anniversary.

Change of Heart

As I mentioned in my previous post here, I am selling two of my Long Champ bags to finance the purchase of another baby. The Long Champ limited edition LM got sold the very next day I posted it and so I had a little separation anxiety at first but I realized I have way too many purple bags already and so I really have to let go of one. I already shipped the bag to the buyer and the buyer confirmed that she already received it. (Enjoy my baby. I am sure you will love her as much as I do).

Then I am also selling another bag, which is my one and only Le Pliage chocolate brown bag. Two weeks has passed already since I posted my ad and nobody has bought the bag yet. And so I Ithink that it is a sign that she is really for me and so now I am changing my mind and decided that I will just keep her. LOL. Anyways, hubby said that it is a good bag for short trips to the mall and I don’t have that kind of bag so I have a very good reason to keep it, right? LOL.

This is the only picture that I have of the newlyweds, our friend Jeff and Abe, whose wedding we attended yesterday but I promised to upload more soon.

Everything was just so perfect:

• the groom singing the bridal march as his fiancée walks down the aisle to meet him at the altar
• the cubic zirconia rings that the bride is wearing
• how the bride and the guests cried (because of the overflowing love and happiness) as the groom take the bride’s hands from the parents after he finish his song for the bride
• how touching the wedding ceremony was because it was officiated by the relative of the groom
• how cool the couple was as they entered the reception venue riding a big bike
• how the guests enjoyed watching the surprise AVP that the bride’s friends prepared
• and most especially, it was so perfect because you can really see in both their eyes how truly in love they are.

It feels really good to be in love.

Tools for the Doctors

Sunday, January 9, 2011

It has been a very busy 2010 for me but I am not complaining as this means more extra money for me to spend for my family. But because I am so busy, I really lack sleep not to mention the first few months when Cobi was born that I only have less than four hours of sleep everyday. Because of this (and probably because of stress also), I have acne breakouts.

So I did some research for an effective acne treatment and that is when I read about a medicine used to treat severe acne, but unfortunately is being linked as cause of diseases such as Crohn’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and ulcerative colitis which can result in cramping, pain, diarrhea, bleeding, and frequent bowel movements.

I got scared because all I want is pimple free skin and I did not realize that it could lead to serious illnesses. But I calmed down for a bit after reading about Doximity.

Doximity is the tool that most doctors used as their line of communication with the other doctors. They say that 65% of doctor’s mistakes can be avoided by using Doximity.

Doximity allows physicians to check on the profile of let’s say, Phillip Porch MD, in case another doctor wants to ask for his advise. Doximity also provides the tool that allows doctors to send SMS and fax messages straight to their mobile devices making communication between doctors faster and easier which is what they need to get instant advise especially for life-threatening situations.

Doximity can indeed improve the services that we can get from our physicians.
