Managing our Bills

Thursday, June 5, 2008

I was reviewing my billing statement for this month last night as some are due for payment within the week. I was surprised to find out that my credit card bill is four thousand pesos over than what I am expecting to pay. As I reviewed the billing statement, I noticed that the credit card company charged me with P4, 000 finance charges because I failed to pay my bills on time.

As I begin to analyze what happened, I realized that all of this happened because I received my billing late. You see, we don’t have one of those mailboxes installed so the management of our bills is really not that organized. You can find our billing statements in any part of our house from the kitchen, to the TV room and even in the dining area. And because of this, I missed my due date last month, thus the finance charge.

Imagine I have to shed out an extra P4, 000 all because we don’t know how to organize our utility and credit card bills. So I told my husband that this has to stop and we really should install one of those mail boxes in our front door to keep our bills organized. This way, the mailman can just drop it inside the mailbox and it will be safe there until we are ready to check our mails and sort it out.
