I had made a post here a few days ago about my husband’s temporary duty to Majuro. This is the second time that he will be far away from us for three weeks. I’m really not used to this kind of setup so as early as now, I’m having some worries already on him leaving.
But as I said in my previous post, there is really nothing that we can do since it is part of his job. So what I have been doing is I have been researching about the island of Majuro. Honestly, when he first told me that he is going to Majuro, I really have no idea on what part of the globe Majuro is. I just learned about it after I did some research on the Internet and sadly, there is not much information that I can get on the Internet about Majuro. All I gathered was that it is the capital and largest city of Marshall Islands.
My friend is in Majuro now for temporary duty also and he has been giving me tips that I can suggest to my husband. He said that it would be best if he will bring instant noodles and canned goods since food is really expensive there and there is not much choice and variety. He also told me where to buy a phone card that my husband can use for our communication since there is no internet connection at the hotel. He also suggested that my husband gets a travel health insurance for his security just in case he will ever have emergency medical expenses (which I hope will not happen).
In just a couple of days, my husband will be leaving. I don’t want that day to come. But at least I’m starting to get information to help him prepare for his temporary duty to an unknown island.
